Plants In Grassland Biomes
Many plants live in the grassland biome and many native plants have adopted to the biome. Due to the amount of rainfall and many fires that occur, most of the plants are different types of grasses. Some plants are tall as 7 feet where as others are short as 4 inches. This all depends on the location and the amount of rainfall received. They also have large root systems underground to help prevent erosion from fires.
Savanna biomes consist of many plant life and these are rhodes grass, red oats grass, star grass and lemon grass. These plants have long roots which reach the water table, they can survive fires and there trunks store water.
Chaparral biomes contain many plant life and some are chamisos, protea, yucca and there are also killer plants such as mistletoe. These plants are similar to desert plants as they do not need a lot of water to survive and some plants also need fire to survive which is odd.
Pampas biomes do not contain many plants, however, some are pampas grass, blue grama grass, tropical milkweed and purple coneflower.
Steppe biomes consist of many plants such as sagebrush, bluebunch wheatgrass, bottlebrush squirreltail, great basin wild rye, indian ricegrass, lupine, western wallflower and white sandverbena.
Prairie biomes contain many plant life and some of them are buffalo grass, prairie sage, prairie rose, sunflower, crazy weed, asters, blazing star, goldenrods, clover and wild indigos.
